Anxiety at the dental office...

Many people, including young kids, may find the dental office an anxiety provoking place. A technique to help kids, particularly kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder, is to discuss a social story prior to going to the dental office.

The Hands in Autism Resource centre has a great tool to help kids out. It is like a visual story.

Hello Inquisitive Minds!

Dr. Chan goes on a field trip to Japan!

Being a dentist is not just about being in the dental office. We need to continually grow and learn new things.
Dr. Chan goes to Tokyo, Japan to attend the World Endodontic Congress. 

While Dr. Chan was there, he did get some time to check out some sights and try some interesting food! Ask him all about his learning experience and what he saw in Japan!

Hartman Public School - Mrs. Fantin-Gallo's grade 3 class comes for a visit

Mrs. Fantin-Gallo's students from Hartman Public School came for a visit. We always welcome our community guests to visit our office!

We taught the students all about dental hygiene care, showed them around the dental operatories, how our instruments are sanitized and gave them a tour of our office.

This is Krista explaining dental hygiene care with our friendly dental puppets.

Keep the visitors coming! We love having friends of the community in our office.

Bayview Family Dental at the Aurora Street Festival! (2013 -06-02)

Bayview Family Dental's staff at the Aurora Street Festival booth (Krista, Dr. Chan, Mary and Fatima)! Lots of toothbrushes, floss, mouthwash and toothpaste was given away. We had 2 contests for adults and kids. Adults could win a free whitening session while kids had a basket a kid's Sonicare electric toothbrush and summer goodies.



We even featured free face painting! Here's a bunny and tiger!

 Aurora street festival goers were able to dress up for some silly photos.

AGD San Diego 2011 Meeting and SAN DIEGO ZOO

I just came back from the Academy of General Dentistry Meeting in sunny California.
I learned a lot about dentistry there!

I also had a chance to go to the San Diego ZOO!
Since this blog is about my dental safari, I'll post some photos and videos of some of the animals I saw.

La Maison Montessori House Visit

I was extremely excited to bring my assistant, Buffy, and my friends the Kangaroo and Dragon to visit the toddler, elementary and Casa kids of La Maison Montessori House!!

We were able to teach the kids and teachers how to brush and floss. And we showed them the sights and sounds of the office. (check out the other posts in Dental Safari for a tour)
